Experience: Our team has developed over 9,000 units of multi-family housing, 134 units of single-family housing, and 5,699 beds of student housing throughout the Southeast. Together, we have over 40 years of residential development experience. Rea Ventures specializes in the development of affordable workforce and senior housing utilizing housing tax credit programs (LIHTC 9% and 4%, grants and low interest loans).

Quality: All of our properties are professionally managed and our contractors are licensed and bonded on every job. Energy efficient units provide benefits to residents through healthier indoor environments and reduced energy costs. We seek EarthCraft or LEED certification on projects to ensure superior sustainability and affordability for residents.

William J. Rea

Bill Rea is the founding member and managing partner of Rea Ventures Group. With over 30 years in the residential housing industry, Bill’s experience spans a wide variety of housing markets including LIHTC family, LIHTC Elderly, USDA Rural Development properties, student housing, as well as market-rate multifamily and single-family properties.

In 1996, Bill formed Ambling Companies, Inc. to pursue the market in affordable multi-family housing. During his time as partner and Chairman of Ambling Companies, Inc., Bill set the course for the company’s strategic planning and operations as it grew nationwide. After leaving Ambling in 2001, he went on to form Rea Companies, Inc., where he continued to focus on affordable housing development. He continues this focus today with Rea Ventures Group and affiliated companies. Bill has completed over 9,000 units of multi-family housing in the tax credit programs in Georgia, Florida, Texas, and North Carolina and has served as developer and owner on all of these projects.

Bill is a current member and past Board Member of the Georgia Affordable Housing Coalition. He has served on the National Association of Home Builders’ Multifamily Division Credit Group and Multifamily Executive Leadership Board. Bill is a graduate of Valdosta State University where he majored in Business Administration.


Eric J. Buffenbarger

Eric Buffenbarger has been the CFO, Vice President, and Treasurer of Bill Rea’s development and ownership companies since 2004. In 2009 he became a partner and manager of Rea Ventures Group and other affiliated Rea companies. Prior to working with Bill Rea, Eric worked as a Certified Public Accountant for KPMG, LLP and Reznick Group, P.C. In his capacity as Senior Manager at Reznick Group, P.C., Eric was the leader of the Atlanta office’s Real Estate Consulting Group. Eric is a graduate of the University of South Florida and received a degree in Accounting from the School of Business Administration. In addition, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.


George H. Coogle III (“Trey”)

Trey Coogle is a partner at Rea Ventures Group. As an architect by training, Trey is responsible for development planning, design coordination, construction oversight, project implementation and management for multifamily developments. Trey is also responsible for implementing quality construction practices utilizing effective cost control methodologies. Before joining Rea Ventures Group, Trey worked as a project manager for Seiber Design, Inc. for 9 years and NCG Architects for 7 years performing architectural and interior design services and managing construction administration for various typologies including; single family, multifamily, hospitality and master planned communities.

A native Georgian, Trey graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture, minor in Building Construction, and Masters in Architecture. Trey is also a LEED Accredited Professional.


Amy McPherson

Amy McPherson, Controller at Rea Ventures Group, is a Certified Public Accountant with over 23 years of experience in the auditing, tax and accounting field. Prior to joining Rea Ventures Group, Amy spent several years as an auditor with CohnReznick, LLP and also worked as a consultant for other LIHTC developers. She is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.


Linda Pitts

Linda Pitts, in-house real estate counsel, has over 14 years of experience in commercial real estate law. Prior to joining Rea Ventures Group, Linda practiced in commercial real estate with several Atlanta law firms representing owners, developers, and lenders in complex commercial real estate transactions. Linda graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Management and received a Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School.


Matt Monroe

Matt Monroe works with the development team to locate development opportunities on urban, infill and transit-oriented sites. With a strong interest in sustainable development and design practices, Matt leads the green building effort within the company. Prior to joining Rea Ventures Group, he worked for an environmental organization where he consulted with clients on sustainable design and energy efficient construction practices. Matt has a Bachelors Degree from the University of Georgia and a Masters in City and Regional Planning from Rutgers University.


Shirley Crew

Shirley oversees various construction processes to ensure adherence to multifamily housing compliance requirements in our communities. She takes initiative to solve problems and proactively communicates issues that may place a project at risk. In addition, she stays abreast of portfolio performance by monitoring rent trends and vacancy rates. Formally, Shirley was responsible for managing and overseeing daily operations of Government contracts, primarily monitoring resource and risk management with an instrumental focus on successful delivery and quality of work across projects. Additionally, Shirley coordinated the new construction process for single family homes by managing and conducting pre-construction activities for new home starts, as well as monitoring overhead budgets versus expenditures for multiple communities. Shirley attended West Central Technical College where she studied Computer Information Systems.


Breck Kean

Breck joined Rea Ventures Group, LLC in April 2016 as Vice President of Development. Breck brings an extensive and diverse real estate background to RVG encompassing over 30 years of multifamily housing development, due diligence, asset management, equity and debt financing, market analysis and valuation. Since 2001, he has successfully participated in the development, financing and project management of over 5,000 units of mixed-income and market rate multifamily housing within Georgia, South Carolina, Florida and Texas with a total development value exceeding $511 million. Development types have included both family and senior oriented communities. As Vice President of Development at RVG he is responsible for business development, land acquisition, entitlement, financial modeling and analysis, due diligence, capitalizing (debt and equity) the transaction, managing the closing/funding process, and project management during construction and lease-up. Breck is primarily responsible for development activities within Texas and the Gulf South. Prior to joining RVG, Breck had 15 years of leadership experience with both for-profit and non-profit multifamily development organizations based in Atlanta. Before entering the housing development field, Breck was Vice President with SunTrust Commercial Mortgage and SunTrust Bank in Atlanta. A native of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Breck received a BBA from Louisiana State University in 1981and a MBA from the University of Texas at Austin in 1983.


Jenn H. Wilkinson

Jennifer has been involved in all facets of multi-family housing for over 30 years and focused on affordable housing in seven Southeastern states for the last 14 years. Her roles in the industry have led her to diverse experience with property search, acquisition, underwriting, funding, design, construction, third-party supervision, marketing, relocation, placed in service, lease-up, management and compliance. In addition, her responsibilities for development also include working with lenders, investors, local municipalities, state housing agencies and legislation at state and federal level. She has experience with public housing authorities, Housing and Urban Development as well as Rural Development. In 2014, Jennifer was awarded the only 9% LIHTC project with RAD in South Carolina. Over the years, she has completed more than 16 market rate properties, thirty-three LIHTC projects with new construction or rehabilitation.

Jennifer studied Business Administration from the University of Alabama with a minor in Advertising/Marketing, Public Relations. She has completed the universities courses for Real Estate Management and Construction.
